Fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina

My daughter and my niece took a cooking camp this summer at an excellent cooking school for kids in our area. The school is called Little Chef Club in Issaquah, and it is run by and taught by the nicest, most knowledgeable couple, Francis and Vivien.

This past weekend they held a benefit event for Hurricane Katrina victims. The kids went and made care packages to be mailed to the Douglass Elementary School in Houston, which is one of the schools that has been reopened specifically for children displaced by the hurricane. The event was a great way for the kids to get involved– they have been asking a lot of questions about the hurricane, and it was a really nice way for them to do something to help. (Kids after all, can’t just write a check and send it!) Oh, and the granola bars they made smelled awesome!
